Dr. James mcelroy, D.C.
Dr. James started his life in La Mesa but grew up in Nashua, New Hampshire. Upon graduating from High School, he returned to San Diego to get a BS in Biochemisty at the University of California San Diego. During his time at UCSD, he played lacrosse and became a storied member of the ski and snowboard club. After college, James entered the biotech world in La Jolla. He soon grew uninspired by the allopathic model and started to think more about a holistic wellness platform of healthcare. During this time, he continued to stay active playing on multiple softball teams, though it was a pick-up soccer injury that sent James to a chiropractor. He found the chiropractic approach to be a breath of fresh air that soon inspired him to enroll at Life Chiropractic College West.
James greatly enjoyed studying the science, art and philosophy of chiropractic. During his final year as an intern, Dr. James was selected to travel to Accra, Ghana to provide chiropractic care in orphanages, hospitals and surrounding villages. He considers himself fortunate to have witnessed chiropractic miracles and hundreds of lives changed through natural chiropractic care. Dr. James believes that by keeping the nervous system free of interference, the body can stay connected to its natural healing ability, stay dis-ease free and express health to its fullest potential.
Dr. James received his Doctorate in Chiropractic from LCCW and returned to San Diego. Today he practices as part of a team at Essential chiropractic studio in La Mesa. He has a passion for helping families stay healthy and active through natural, holistic means. He is certified in the Webster Technique by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and loves to work with soon-to-be mothers and their children because he knows healthy children become healthy adults. Dr. James also has extensive experience with athletes and enjoys helping them optimize their performance and prevent injuries.
His mission is to help his patients be better at whatever it is they love to do and to provide the opportunity for them to reach their full innate potentential. While Dr. James believes that laughter may be the best medicine (with the least side effects), he is serious about health.
Dr. tira heartsong, d.c.
Dr. Tira is driven by her mission to promote the natural and sustainable benefits of chiropractic care. She is inspired in her profession because she truly values its amazing capacity to heal and support the bodies’ natural state of health.
Being raised in a health conscious home, Dr. Tira knew from a young age that health would always be a primary focus in her life. She understood that diet, exercise and right thinking are all tied to well being and that healing often occurs naturally with appropriate nutrition and supports. During her formative years she was concerned about traditional medicine’s extensive use of pharmaceuticals and invasive medical procedures. As a result, she dedicated herself to becoming a doctor with a holistic orientation and decided to become a pediatrician. Coincidentally, during her undergraduate course work she met a group of chiropractors. Their vibrant health and astute knowledge so inspired her that she knew she needed to change her career track. She had found the profession that she could be in complete agreement with and has never looked back. Like most people, she had previously associated chiropractic care with neck and back pain. Up until that point, she had no idea of the wide range of benefits chiropractic care truly offers. After completing her undergraduate work at Oregon State University, she received her Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from the prestigious Life Chiropractic College West.
Today, Dr. Tira considers herself fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with a diverse population both culturally and across the lifespan. She enjoys her work with newborns as well as the elderly. Dr. Tira is a chiropractic specialist for pregnant women and children. She has completed extensive training and education outside of the standard chiropractic curriculum and is Webster technique certified through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). She utilizes a holistic approach with her patients and integrates exercise and nutrition. In this way, she utilizes all of the integral components to achieving optimum wellness and a healthy functioning nervous system.
What she loves most about her work is seeing her patients transform their health and live more energetic and vibrant lives. Her goal is to help children and families be healthier, happier and fulfill their greatest potential.
