Pregnancy is one of the most exciting times in a woman's life.  At Essential Chiropractic our goal is to adjust women throughout their pregnancies to encourage optimal health for both baby and mom.  We strive to empower women to trust the innate wisdom of their bodies and to trust in the miracle of birth.

Due to all the rapid and dramatic changes that occur during this time, it's crucial to maintain pelvic balance and alignment.  Restrictions that aren't addressed cause intrauterine constraint that often interferes with proper positioning of the baby.  These pelvic distortions and mal-positioning of the baby can often complicate the birth outcome and lead to a cascade of unnecessary interventions.

Understanding that the nervous system is the master control to all systems of the body including reproductive, it only makes sense to make sure it's functioning optimally.

Benefits of Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

  • Maintaining a healthier pregnancy
  • Controlling symptoms of nausea
  • Reducing duration of labor and delivery
  • Relieving back, neck or joint pain
  • Preventing a potential cesarean delivery

The Webster technique

Dr. James and Dr. Tira are both certified in the
Webster Technique by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA).  The ICPA explains the Webster technique as:

“A chiropractic therapeutic intervention for pregnant women to address the pathophysiology of subluxation and the consequential intrauterine constraint [...]. Clinical experience among those trained and certified in the Webster Technique indicate that, in addition to relieving the discomforts of low back pain during pregnancy, the technique may be efficacious in relieving the causes of intra-uterine constraint and its consequences.”

While this isn't a "baby turning" technique or solely for a breech pregnancy, balancing the pelvis often times allows the baby to turn vertex.  It's important to note that the technique is not solely for mal-position, but rather a safe and effective way to ensure pelvic balance through out pregnancy.
This decreases the likelihood for dystocia and leads to a safer, easier  pregnancy and delivery.
